Day 17

Just about half way into the trip our friends are in the Outer Banks of North Carolina - Ocracoke to be more specific. There they took an extra day to rest, relax and “get fat” according to Andrew. Now that they are away from the major cities of the northeast, they are staying at more camp sites and fewer hotels the rest of the way. Though despite being well south of the Mason Dixon line, that doesn’t mean hippies can’t invade their camp site as was the case a few days ago. Ok, so it might have just been one hippie, but when he appeared to be tripping on acid, repeating every word he said multiple times, it was entertainment enough for one night. As for the weather, other than some rain that pounded down over night, it has been nice though a little on the hot side during the day. Tomorrow they will have to take a 2 and half hour ferry off the island to get back to the mainland at which point they will get right back on the bike trail. Note: no injuries or breakdowns to report.
